Product Feature: Pistol Skin Camouflage Kit - GunSkins

Pistol Skins are designed to fit any pistol. We receive many questions from people who ask if our kit template will fit their gun. If your weapon is a pistol/handgun, then the answer is yes. If you don't believe me, Pistol Skins will fit the following models:

  • Glock
  • Revolver
  • Beretta
  • AMT AutoMag
  • Arcu
  • Astra
  • Bersa
  • Browning
  • Colt
  • ČZ
  • Desert Eagle
  • FN
  • Heckler & Koch
  • Hi-Point
  • Kahr
  • Kel-Tec
  • Ruger
  • SIG
  • Taurus
  • Walther
  • Zastava
  • Carbon 15
  • Smith & Wesson M&P
  • & More!

This list isn't all inclusive. Our Pistol Skins will fit most semi-auto, revolver type pistols. The kit comes with pre-cut pieces, two 4.75" x 8” frame pieces, one 3.75” x 8” slide piece, and two 1” x 3.25” pieces of additional material. With proper trimming from the user, the pieces can be cut to shape for any model. That's the beauty of using a do-it-yourself approach. You put on the pieces exactly where you want them and as little or as much as you want. You don't need us to tell you how it should look, you can decide for yourself.

EASY TO INSTALL

Before installing, we recommend prepping your gun beforehand and having the right tools. These include a gun-specific degreaser, a sharp hobby knife, and a heat gun. A clean gun makes for a clean install.

DIY Pistol Skins

If you need some tools, allow us to recommend a few

Lay the pistol on its side and peel one of the large side pieces of the vinyl material. Like a sticker, position the piece centered over the side of the pistol and press firmly with your fingers. If your pistol has a slide, position the piece just below the slide. There is a piece made specifically for that part.

Here's where you need to take your time and do a good job. Use heat on the material to make it flexible and stretch it over the edges and all around the curves of the frame. The vinyl stretches a good bit and is very malleable, so don't be afraid to pull and tighten the hold the material has on the surface. Use your fingers to press on all the grooves and edges. This really makes the material conform to the shape of the gun, a second layer acting like a "skin" in a very real way.

Using the sharp hobby knife, trim the material all along the edge of the gun where the material overhangs past the surface. If you want to wrap around the edges (front and back) leave enough material so it can wrap around. Don't forget to trim inside the trigger guard, too. Prior to this step the GunSkins may look like a mess, but once the excess is trimmed and the camouflage pattern takes the shape of the gun, it starts to make sense.

Finished A-TACS AU Pistol Skin

The finished product will look as good as the effort and time you put into it

TURN AROUND AND REPEAT

For the most part, pistols are pretty symmetrical. After you finish wrapping the first side its time to turn the gun around and do the exact same thing on this side. When it comes to the front and back of the pistol grip and trigger guard, we recommend cutting the edge of the vinyl in a meandering "S" shape cut, which provides the best blend and seamless look. Overlap the material and press firmly.

After both sides of the pistol are wrapped, the vinyl piece labeled "slide" can be used to wrap the top of the gun. Obviously this piece is designed for slide actions, but if your pistol does not have a slide (such as a revolver) you may use this piece to wrap any previously unwrapped surface as you please. Pistol Skins contain roughly 120 square inches of material, which is more than enough to wrap any pistol. It's up to you to decide how much or how little of the gun to wrap.

NO TWO PISTOLS ARE ALIKE

It's so amazing to see how no two pistols wrapped in camo skins are alike. Everyone adds a unique touch and there is no wrong way to do it. Some have wrapped only the pistol grip, while still others only add some color to the slide action. We have even used more than one camouflage pattern on a single pistol. Hey, why not?

GunSkins protect the gun. Therefore, the more you add to your pistol, the more protection you can count on. Pistol Skins are very durable and are designed to take the dents and dings of everyday use. Better the skin receive the abuse than your gun, right? Pistol Skins are among the most popular of all our GunSkins kits because they are exclusive and far more affordable than having the gun dipped. Whatever model of pistol you carry, I guarantee we have a kit that will work for you!

Rigs, our Pistol Skin is a universal wrap, a one-size-fits-most kind of install. It requires the user to trim around the trigger guard and grip to fit their specific model. Therefore, it is just as easy to wrap an FN 5.7 as it would be say, a Glock.

Unfortunately Celeste, we don’t offer any product that is precut specifically for the Walther. Because of the many variances from the hundreds of pistol shapes and sizes, our Pistol Skin is a universal kit requiring trimming to make fit.

I am somewhat new to gun wraps what is available design and pattern wise for their Walther PPQM to 9 mm? I used your gun wrap for my Springfield 9 mm, was very pleased with the results but I don’t see an actual pattern for the Walther. I don’t think I am talented enough to cut exactly how it should be after you heat it to the frame. I would prefer pre cut strips. Please contact me via email with any Web links to an actual pattern.

David, at this time we do not have any pre-cut templates for the PMR30 Keltec. The Pistol Skin is a universal fit for any semi-automatic pistol with a slide or barrel of 8” or less. It does require the user to trim away the excess material using the frame of your gun to make fit. Our install video shows a Glock, but the procedure is the same regardless of model.

Exra, The Pistol Skin will work for most .44 Desert Eagles, with the exception of the Mark XIX, which could have a barrel length of 10”. In that case, I’d recommend using our Medium Gear Skin to get the job done. In either case, the vinyl will require trimming to fit. 40+ patterns
